Building the Future of East Kamloops: Our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan
With the release of our 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, we’re setting a clear direction for how we’ll support businesses, strengthen our community, and shape East Kamloops into a more connected, vibrant, and resilient place to work, visit, and invest.
From Idea to Action
Just a few years ago, local business and property owners began asking an important question: how can we better support and advocate for East Kamloops?
That question led to the formation of the EKBIA, which officially launched in May 2025. Today, we represent businesses across Valleyview, Dallas, and Campbell Creek—working together to address shared challenges and unlock new opportunities.
This strategic plan marks the next step: moving from startup mode into focused, long-term impact.
Built by Our Members
Through a member survey and ongoing conversations, businesses across the district shared what matters most—and the message was clear. Safety, transportation, marketing, cleanliness, and stronger connections all rose to the top.
In fact, nearly half of respondents reported experiencing a safety incident in the past year.
That kind of feedback doesn’t just sit on a page—it drives our priorities.
Our Vision
We’re working toward a simple but ambitious goal:
A connected, prosperous East Kamloops community with thriving businesses and inviting public spaces.
And we’ll get there by doing what a BIA does best—advocating for our members and delivering meaningful programs that make a visible difference.
Our Four Strategic Priorities
To turn vision into action, we’ve focused on four key areas:
This is about the big picture—advocacy, safety, and shaping the future and built form of the district.
We’ll be working to improve community safety, support business growth, and guide the evolution of Valleyview into a true town centre alongside the City’s 2025 Kamplan updates. That includes everything from safety initiatives to long-term planning and placemaking.
We’re building strong governance, clear processes, and a sustainable structure that ensures the EKBIA can deliver real value long-term.
A BIA is only as strong as its members. We’re focused on creating meaningful opportunities for connection—through events, outreach, and consistent communication—while making sure members feel heard, supported, and informed.
From marketing campaigns and events to beautification and placemaking, we’re working to make East Kamloops feel active, welcoming, and worth stopping for—not just driving through.
What Success Looks Like
Over the next five years, success will be measured by outcomes monitored by our Board of Directors. That means safer streets, stronger business connections, more activity in the district, and a growing reputation for East Kamloops as a place people want to be.
It also means building trust—so that when businesses need support, they know exactly where to go. This strategic plan is a working document that will guide annual plans, programs, and decisions from now through 2030.
We’ll be tracking progress, reporting back to members, and adjusting as needed—because a strong organization stays responsive.
