In July 2025 the East Kamloops BIA held a launch event at McCracken Station Pub. It marked the kick off for the organization after almost 2 years of foundational work — establishing the levy area, building initial communications, and preparing core materials.
As a brand-new BIA, the priority was to provide an opportunity for members to network among themselves, and connect with the BIA and our initiatives. 75 attendees joined that included local businesses, community partners, and elected officials. Members of Council and MP Mel Arnold attended, which reinforced that East Kamloops businesses now have an organized body to represent their interests.
The evening focused on three things: networking, launching engagement tools (such as the benchmark survey and summer giveaway) and showing thanks to those who played a role in getting the organization off the ground.
During the event, we launched our first business survey to gather structured feedback on safety, marketing, advocacy, and programming priorities. Rather than assume what businesses needed, the goal was to collect data that would directly inform our annual work plan.
With attendance and messaging a success, the energy in the room proved that the East Kamloops BIA is not just up and running, but a necessary new element among the business community of Kamloops. Stay tuned for more events.
